03. The interior of the first mass car USSR.

04. Opposite the museum ticket office housed three subcompact. Orange car left at first I took to be a Fiat 500, but it turned out that this is an Austrian Steyr-Puch 500D, produced in 1962. Car body and of the technical stuffing were licensed copies of the Fiat 500, but unlike the last car had a different engine, gearbox and suspension slightly modified. In the center of another copy of the Fiat — French Simca 5, 1939 release. Was made in France and England, and is a licensed copy of the Fiat 500 Topolino. 07.

08. I will begin with a review of one of the oldest representatives of the collection, the legendary Ford T, 1919 release. This car needs no introduction. «Tin Lizzie», as the car was nicknamed by the people, has put America on wheels. Thanks for the first time applied the conveyor assembly and successful design, the car was cheap and easy to use, making it the market leader for many years. Total production for the period from 1908 to 1927 years was released about 15 million cars of this model in various touring options.

09. Another representative of the ancient American automobile industry Overland Roadster Model 45. The history of the brand Overland has its origins in 1903, when the American company was founded Standard Wheel, letting out bikes at first, and then unpretentious cars with single-cylinder engine. Since 1905, the company changed its name to Overland Automotive since 1909 and establishes production car, the design of which is partially copied the Ford T. Due to the low price (less was only Ford T) Overland company came in second place in the US to produce cars after Ford. So for example Ford released in 1911, 35 000 cars and 18 700 Overland Automotive Car presented at the museum is equipped with 4-cylinder engine, 20 hp and has a top speed of 63 km / h.

In this machine are original pieces of the cabin, part of the frame, radiator, gearbox and some more details. The rest was re-created during the restoration.

14. Another interesting rarity Renault 10 CV (9/45 HP) 1928 release. Before the war, these machines were distributed in Latvia. A characteristic feature of Renault from 1904 to the early 1930s is that the radiator in them located between the engine and the passenger compartment, and this is due to the unique design of the hood.

20. The luxury convertible sports car Horch 853, released in 1936. Five-liter 8-cylinder engine with 100 hp clocked 2.5 ton car to a speed of 135 km / h. Was produced from 1935 to 1940, only 2200 cars were produced in this series in a variety of body styles and versions.

21. Another German Opel Admiral — elegant convertible sports car, made in 1938 by a small party of 90 car body by «Hebmüller» on the stand which he exhibited in 1938 at the International Motor Show in Berlin. During World War II cars of this model were expropriated by the Wehrmacht and were used as staff generals and senior officials of the army.

The back of the front seats in the car to swing form with rear bed for three people. During the three years of production were produced 40,000 cars in this model range.

26. Move to the area of luxury — there is a collection of cars from the Kremlin garage, once owned by the supreme leader of the Soviet Union. The collection contains unique items that can be seen only in the Riga Motor Museum.

27. We begin with a review of the luxury sports convertible Packard Super Eight, made on the chassis 15-series in 1937 is custom tailored to the Parisian elite body studio «Franay». Before World War II the car belonged to the King of Romania Carola Second, after the war was taken as a trophy in the Soviet Union and placed in the Kremlin garage.

28. Luxurious interior of precious wood exudes aristocratic.

29. The car came with a five-liter engine with a capacity of 135 hp and can accelerate to 135 km / h.

30. Branded drives.

31. Another member of the legendary American brand — Packard Eight 1100 1934 release. Cars Packard this lineup became the first in history, which as an option in the installation of the car radio. It is known that Stalin was a big fan of this car brand in 1930, Mr. Packard’s cars purchased for the Soviet government.

32. Then follows a series of car garage Kremlin Soviet production. Consider them in more detail, as there is a lot of interesting pieces.

33. In the photo, the first Soviet Executive upper class limousine ZIS-101 1937 model year. Development of ZIS-101 was completely Soviet, but without borrowing has not done. The basis for the design and ZIS-American were taken «Buicks» 1932-34’s, which also borrowed from the device OHV eight-cylinder motor. Rear suspension and steering have been copied from the Packard Foundation.

34. The Americans also had a hand in the external appearance of the new machine, which commissioned the Soviet leadership was engaged in the American bodybuilder studio «Budd Company», designed the car body and put all the necessary tooling for mass production. The body of the new machine was half-metal — a wooden frame to hang the metal body panels. This technology is ill-suited for mass production and in 1939 there was an upgraded version of the car ZIS-101 A with a new all-metal body.

35. ZIS-101 for the first time in the Soviet Union installed Parking heater, radio, the thermostat in the engine cooling system and many other technical innovations.

These machines are not only catered to senior party officials, but also ordinary citizens, working as a taxi on long routes. During the period of 1937-1941 years was released 8752 car, including 600 modernized ZIS-101A.

36. The following items are not ZIS-110, as you might think, and special armored version of the ZIS-115, 1950 model year. Reinforced modification was developed in strict secrecy on the personal orders of Stalin. From the base car ZIS-110 differs increased wheels and brake drums, the presence of two carburetors and the rear axle of the truck ZIS-151. Booking a car is a one-piece shell — bronekapsuly, leather outside body panels. Side windows in the doors had a thickness of 75 mm and were so heavy that raised hydraulically. One of these cars was used by Stalin.

37. There were manufactured more than 30 armored ZIS-s. Vehicle weight is 7.5 tons (three times the base model), the maximum speed of 100 km / h with the engine power 162 hp

38. Another modification of ZIS-110 cabriolet, received index ZIS-110B. Very rare car built just a few copies and for receiving military parades. To have survived all three instances.

39. At the car in the 1940-1950s Soviet Marshal I. Bagryamyan took military parades in the Baltic Military District. The car was used until the 80s.

40. I have already shown ZIS 110B on display in another Latvian Museum. Oddly gazed at, and could not understand what ZIS 110B differs from the ZIS 110B.

41. The next exhibit’s collection «The Seagull» GAZ-13 — Soviet representative of a large class passenger car, manufactured in small series c 1959 to 1979. When you create a new Soviet representative body of the car, the designers focused on the luxury American cars Packard 1956 model year with a design that echoes the interior and exterior of «The Seagull.»

«The Seagull» was the first Soviet car equipped with power steering, brake servo, power windows and automatic transmission with push-button gear selector. «The Seagull» were part of the «package of privileges» supreme party nomenklatura, and used as official vehicles among party bosses. In addition, these cars were in the Soviet embassies abroad, as well as other countries in the embassies in Moscow.

42. The car was produced at the Gorky Automobile Plant c 1959 to 1979, only 3,189 were produced cars of this model.

43. Comrade Khrushchev welcomes visitors to the museum of the ZIL-111G, produced for senior officials of the Soviet Union and other socialist countries in the period from 1962 to 1967, small series of 10-12 vehicles per year. Over the entire period of production were collected 112 family car ZIL-111.

44. Khrushchev used a similar car in 1963-1964.

The first version of the ZIL 111 was released in 1958 and is very much like Packard, the Soviet Union already had a Packard — GAZ-13 «Chaika» and received an order from the top to change the design of the new Soviet limousine. As a result, changed the front and rear body panels, while in the car Zero series front panel has been copied from the car Cadillac 62 Series. As a result, the car has received the prefix «G» and began to look like this:

45. The similarity with the Cadillac was noticeable to the naked eye, and smacks of blatant plagiarism, so before starting the machine in the series, the car has undergone another change chuck. Although the new design was a repetition of features American cars of the time, but a direct copy it no longer was.

46. Production of new modification ZIL 111 D began in 1962. For the first time in the history of the Soviet automobile ZIL 111 was equipped with air conditioning as standard. The list of other «bells and whistles» were already tested for «The Seagull» automatic transmission with push-button switch, power steering, power windows and radio with automatic tuning and the ability to control it from the back seat. Design American cars mid-50s was formed under the influence of aerospace topics, features of which can be seen in ZIL 111, such as taillights, reminiscent of the nozzle jet engines.

47. The following representatives of the Kremlin garage is a gift from US President Brezhnev Nixon, who gave the Lincoln Continental, 1973 release of the Soviet General Secretary, during the latter’s visit to Washington.

48. Another Brezhnev cars Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1966 issue., Who was very fond of the secretary general. Once Brezhnev during his pokatushek got this car in an accident. Restore the car did not, in this form it and keep it in the garage until the Kremlin joined the museum’s collection.

49. Surprised face four hero expresses bewilderment about what happened.

50. In this review I will end the exposure, exposed on the ground floor and go to the second.

51. Esli on the first level most of the exhibits — European and American cars, then on the second floor of 80% of the exposition — the Soviet classics.

52.

53. I will begin with an overview of the legendary «Emka». GAZ M-1 or simply «Emka» as a machine called the people is the most popular Soviet car of the 1940s. Total for the period from 1936 to 1943 at the Gorky Automobile Plant named after Molotov was released 62,888 copies. In June 1943, Gorky bombing destroyed the body shop of the plant and the production of «Emka» was discontinued. Although after the war of the remaining parts were collected another 233 vehicles.

54. The prototype for the «Emka» was the Ford Model B 40A, 1934, records the production of which was bought by the Soviet Union at Ford. The new car had to be replaced on the conveyor outdated GAZ-A. The main innovation was the metal body of the car, manufacturing technology which has been mastered by the engineers with the help of the Ford Foundation. In the process of fine-tuning the car and its adaptation to the difficult operating conditions in the Soviet Union design of the car was subjected to a large-scale modifications and many units have been designed by Soviet specialists again. The number and nature of the changes with respect to pre-image were such that the plant is already considered the model of his own, although established under foreign influence.

55. Near exhibited a car is an integral exhibit all Latvian avtomuzeev — ZIM (GAZ-12).

56. Beautiful car, I talked about it in previous posts, I will not repeat.

57. Another legendary postwar GAZ M-20 «Victory», which replaced «Ehmke» and is available in 1946 — 1958. This is the first Soviet passenger car with a monocoque body, which also was the first fully designed and prepared for mass production in the Soviet Union. Also for the first Soviet car got Parking heater as standard equipment. In all there were 236 thousand cars of this model including modification. This car is in the middle of the 1950s, as a reward for exemplary work received a combiner of Cesis district.

58. GAZ-21 «Volga» — the car replaced on the line «Victory», was produced from 1957 until 1970. Over time, the car repeatedly modernized and improved. In the photo, the base version of the «Volga» GAZ-21L 1962 model year.

59. Next to the base version exhibited wagon GAZ-22M 1964 release. «Volga» station wagon was produced from 1964 to 1970 and in private hands is not supplied. Cars with this type of body divided between state organizations and used as taxis, coaches care, staff fire trucks, etc.

60. GAZ-24-02 «Volga» — the first Soviet wagon with three rows of seats available commercially from 1973 to 1988. Like its predecessor with the photo above to the private sector has not been sold and delivered exclusively to government agencies.

61. The museum has a very good collection of rare Muscovites that starts van Moskvich 401-422, built on the basis of the model Moskvitch 401/420, which in turn is a copy of the pre-war model Opel Kadett K38. Van had wood-metal body, which was due to a lack of rolled steel in the first postwar decade, and was carried out in 1954-1956, respectively. The car body was very utilitarian and simple, and the car was operated as a delivery van various trade organizations. His longevity was relatively low, but thanks in part to the wooden body, which can be easily repaired with improvised means, such vans sometimes operated until the full depreciation of the chassis. To have survived only a few copies of this car.

62 information panels on the van.

63. Another modification of the Muscovite with a body kabriolimuzin. Moskvich 400-420A was made in 1949 — 1954, one of the reasons for the release of cars with this type of body in the Soviet Union was a shortage of steel products.

64. On the left in the photo Moskvich-E403-424 — experimental sedan, built a small pilot Party in 1949. Differed from the base model Moskvich 400-420 redesigned front end and the other engine. In a series of car did not go.

65. The only surviving copy of Moskvich-E403-424 is in Riga Motor Museum.

66. Moskvich-423 — the first Soviet serial-freight car with a five-door station wagon, was issued in the years 1957-1963 with the modification. Intended for use in the national economy and to the private sector has not been sold.

67. Children’s recumbent «Rocket».

68. Another wagon Moskvich 426 E, based at the Moskvich-408. Produced from 1967 to 1967. Index «E» means an export version. This machine was to be sent for sale in Finland, but due to a defect painting remained in the USSR.

69. Another child recumbent «Moskvich», as a child dreamed of this, but I did not even had a chance to sit behind the wheel.

70. Further exposure continues cars which the former Soviet Union are not a classic and still make up a large part of the traffic flow, so here I will not dwell in detail.

71. Stylish Italian design first fret and pleasing to the eye today.

72. VAZ-2102 became the first Soviet-rounder, which can be purchased for private use. Mass production from 1971 to 1985 and was very popular among the people.

73. If you do not know anything about this car, then we can take it for home-made, so awkward and scary it looks creation Soviet designers. Nevertheless, it is a production car terrain LuAZ- 969 A «Volyn» 1976 model year. The machine is designed for the needs of the army and the national economy.

74. <The first version of this car was front-wheel, thus «Volyn» became the first Soviet front-wheel drive car. A few years after the start of production version of the car came with all-wheel drive, which were in demand mainly in the rural hinterland.

75. There are a couple of exposure and «Cossacks», where the same without them. In the foreground ZAZ-965 «Zaporozhets» is issued from 1960 to 1969, including modifications.

76. To his right, the next model ZAZ ZAZ — 966 In the 1969 model year.

77. Taking into account the modernization of this car was produced from 1967 to 1994. The design of the machine, Soviet designers focused on German runabout NSU Prinz, which were adopted many features of the «plows» 966 series.

78. This car is known to everyone who watched the popular Soviet comedy «Operation» Y «and other adventures Shurik.» After this film microcar C3A was popular nickname «morgunovka» (in the film microcar ruled Experienced character, played by actor Yevgeny Morgunov). Car-C3A microcar available commercially Serpukhov motorcycle factory from 1958 to 1970. As the engine was mounted on the car motorcycle engine Izh-49 power 8 hp

79. Motorcycle M-63P — wheelchair modification of M-63, issued by the traffic police to patrol a small circulation just over 300 copies.

80. Another bike, which was established several world speed records. This bike was designed by a Latvian Edgars Erdmanis in 1952. The basis was taken pre-war BMW R51, the power of which was increased to 78 hp due to the installation of the compressor. Thanks to the aerodynamic fairing body and wheelchair were able to increase the maximum speed of the motorcycle by a third. Since the Latvian roads are not suitable for installation speed record for this purpose was selected section of the highway near Simferopol, where in 1954 Edgars Erdmanis set a speed record at a distance of 5 km, traveling at an average speed of land 207 km / h. A year later he improved his record, traveling at an average speed of land 222 km / h, reaching a maximum speed of 248 km / h.
